Maison du Cedre Famille Gouges Bourgogne Blanc 2023
The vines for this Burgundy, produced by the Gouges family's Domaine de la Cavea on the Côte Chalonnaise, are planted on around seven hectares of loam and limestone soils facing south-east. The grapes grow at an altitude of between 360 and 385 metres; they are harvested by hand and fermented in stainless steel. The result is a lively Chardonnay full of vibrancy. On the nose, there are notes of lemon zest and grapefruit, alongside white peach and subtle floral hints. With a little more aeration, the limestone-driven minerality, hazelnut and fresh brioche come to the fore. On the palate, the wine delights with its remarkable precision and energy, as well as a structure underpinned by deep minerality. A collaboration between the Gouges family and Maison du Cèdre, a merchant specialising in exquisite premium bottlings.
