Maison du Cedre Famille Gouges Bourgogne Côte dOr Rouge 2022
Clay and sandstone soils in the southern Côte de Nuits provide the terroir for the 30- to 40-year-old Pinot Noir vines used to produce this red Burgundy. The grapes are harvested by hand and – after 100 per cent destemming – fermented in concrete tanks for around two weeks. The wine is then aged for around 12 months in barriques. On the nose, this Côte d'Or displays plenty of vibrant red fruit (strawberry, cherry, cranberry), accompanied by floral notes (rose petals, peony). With a little aeration, notes of undergrowth and spices emerge. The palate is characterised by deep minerality, an elegant structure and juicy red fruit, enveloped in silky, fine tannins. A collaboration between the Gouges family and Maison du Cèdre, a merchant specialising in exquisite premium bottlings.
