Weingut Wieninger Chardonnay Grand Select 2022

The Chardonnay Grand Select comes from Wieninger's oldest Chardonnay vineyards on the Bisamberg, specifically the Breiten and Kritschen plots. The vines, which are around 40 years old, grow on light, sandy loess over solid limestone and produce low yields. The wine is matured in French oak barrels with capacities of 228, 300, 500 and 600 litres and is left on the lees for an extended period. The 2022 vintage reveals notes of yellow peach, mandarin and white stone fruit, alongside nougat, delicate herbal spice, oats, a hint of vanilla cream and subtle toasted aromas. On the palate, it is powerful and full-bodied, yet precise, citrusy and salty, underpinned by fresh acidity. A great Viennese Chardonnay with a silky texture, impressive length and excellent ageing potential.
