The Milz family has run its estate in Trittenheim since 1520, unbroken, now in the 22nd generation. As a founding member of the VDP, the house belongs to the bedrock of German winegrowing. For the Magna Charta house selection, Markus Milz and Sebastian Schmidtke found a reference to barrique ageing in the estate's old cellar books. They collect the barrels in Burgundy every year. The Pinot Blanc is the sensation of this range. After a strict selection it matures in small oak. You taste that in the creaminess and the texture. In the glass Williams pear and quince, hazelnut, a touch of vanilla, and the salty pull of Middle Mosel slate. On the palate compact and creamy, yet taut, with a long, spicy finish. For us, great Pinot Blanc from a place where everyone expects Riesling and nothing else.
