Philipponnat Réserve Perpètuelle Brut
Champagne Philipponnat
Time as an integral part of the cuvée: Philipponnat's "Réserve Perpétuelle Brut? combines the freshness of younger vintages with the depth of a reserve that has been built up since 1946. 66% Pinot Noir, 32% Chardonnay, and 2% Meunier form the base; a large portion of the reserve wines is aged in wood. On the nose, notes of dried pear, linden blossom, mint, and sage emerge, accompanied by red berries, citrus, and fresh bread. On the palate, the champagne is soft yet structured, with juicy fruit, subtle spice, and plenty of winey character. The moderate dosage adds roundness without masking the freshness. The long finish features notes of biscuit, bread crust, and a subtle mineral edge. This clearly showcases the house's signature style, which is based on Pinot Noir from Mareuil-sur-Aÿ.
