Philipponnat Cuvée 1522 Extra Brut 2019
Champagne Philipponnat
The 2016 "Clos des Goisses? is one of the great champagnes of this vintage, spectacularly combining the power and precision that come together in this unique vineyard. On the nose, notes of peach, pear, white apple, and flowers blend with lemon, chalk, and a hint of smoke. These are complemented by buttery pastries, nuts, white chocolate, and a touch of vanilla. On the palate, the champagne is round and full-bodied, with a creamy texture and a delicate effervescence, yet at the same time remarkably taut and vertical. Ripe fruit and autolytic richness are supported by lively acidity, salty minerality, and spicy notes of ginger. The finish is long, chalky, smoky, and exceptionally fresh. Still young, but already very refined and with enormous potential. It received 97 points from Decanter.
