The 2025 "Grauburgunder? comes from vines up to 45 years old growing on the sun-drenched slopes of the Middle Nahe region. Weathered porphyry and water-rich loess loam lend the wine body and complexity without compromising its freshness. After a selective hand harvest, it ages for about six months in traditional single-piece and double-piece German oak barrels. The nose reveals notes of pear, yellow apple, and a hint of quince, along with delicate herbs, citrus zest, and a smoky, stony note. On the palate, the wine is dense and supple, yet crisp and dry, with a delicate creaminess, pleasant acidity, and spicy depth. A well-balanced Pinot Gris with distinct terroir and character.

The Dönnhoff wine estate in Oberhausen on the Nahe has been in existence for over 250 years. Today it is run by Cornelius Dönnhoff, the fourth generation of the family to do so. Kreuznacher Kahlenberg, Roxheimer Höllenpfad, Krötenötenpfuhl or Dellchen. Dönnhoff has ten large vineyards that are among the best in the region - and here, on volcanic and slate rock, he produces primarily Rieslings of international renown.
