Antoine worked alongside his father, François Jobard, for 15 years before taking over the estate in 2017. This is where some of the very best Meursaults are produced.
The domaine and many of the vineyards in Meursault have been in the family for generations. But it was François Jobard who made the wines famous through his tireless pursuit of finesse and perfection. He produced 50 vintages. Fifteen of these were produced alongside his son Antoine, who joined the domaine in 2002 and took it over in 2017. In 2019, Antoine was offered the opportunity to take over several Pinot vineyards in Pommard and Volnay from André Mussy, and he seized this chance.
The vineyards are cultivated exclusively using organic methods. The hand-harvested grapes are gently pneumatically pressed whole. Clarification of the must takes just two to three hours, after which spontaneous fermentation begins. This, like the ageing, takes place in barriques made from Damy de Meursault oak, with a maximum of 15 per cent new wood. The wines remain on the full lees in the barrels until blending, without the lees being stirred. The entire ageing process lasts 18 to 20 months.
