Vi.Nicola is part of a new generation of Piedmontese projects that, whilst drawing on traditional roots, seek to combine them with a new, sustainable and modern approach to wine. The focus here is not on the prestige of Piedmont, but on precision, freshness and drinkability. Piedmont is world-famous above all for Barolo and Barbaresco, yet the region has much more to offer than just great red wines. It is precisely in the higher-altitude and cooler areas that elegant sparkling wines and white wines are increasingly being produced today, characterised by vibrancy, clarity and astonishing finesse. This is exactly where Vi.Nicola comes in.
Vi.Nicola is a collective formed by three young brothers from the Alta Langa region around Castino, combining classic Piedmontese heritage with a modern, accessible style. They are, in fact, the sons of Oscar Farinetti, the founder of Eataly. Nicola wanted a light wine with a very low alcohol content. Andrea initially objected, but then suggested something authentic, delicious and true to the Langhe tradition. Francesco found the perfect balance. Nicola Farinetti was himself CEO of Eataly for many years. Andrea Farinetti is responsible for the family’s wineries, in particular Fontanafredda, and the agricultural holdings. Francesco Farinetti is an entrepreneur and, amongst other things, managing director of Green Pea.
