"Common sense, the magic of the soil, attention to every nuance and a clear line define the style of La Conseillante."

300 years ago, Catherine Conseillan acquired the vineyard in Pomerol, renovated it and expanded it to twelve hectares. The Nicolas family has been running the estate since 1871, and has made it one of Pomerol's first growths.
Literally translated, "La Conseillante" means the counsellor, but also the counsellor's wife. And Catherine Conseillan was a successful merchant from Libourne. in 1735, she acquired a small vineyard right next to Château L'Évangile and not far from Cheval Blanc. She had the opportunity to expand it to twelve hectares and renovate it from the ground up. The result was La Conseillante, which was taken over by the Nicolas family in 1871, who still own it today.
Bertrand, Henri and Jean-Valmy Nicolas run the winery, which is one of the best in the exclusive appellation. The team around Marielle Cazaux has contributed to this in recent years, as Robert Parker also states: "Under the direction of Marielle Cazaux, La Conseillante continues to go from success to success".
The grape variety selection consists of 80 % Merlot and 20 % Cabernet Franc, which grow on ferruginous loam consisting of 60 % clay and 40 % sandy gravel. To further emphasise the finesse of the wines, 70% are now aged in new wood, 27 % in one-year-old barrels and 3 % in amphorae.
