Banfi srl
Originally, the Italian-American brothers John and Harry Mariani were involved in importing Italian wines to the USA.
This "Brunello di Montacino' is to a certain extent the local wine of Castello Banfi and comes from all the vineyards that the estate owns in Montalcino. Around 80% of the Brunello is aged for at least two years in 60 and 90 litre French oak barrels and 20% in 350 litre French oak barriques. The "Brunello di Montacino' has an intense aroma of black cherries, blackberries and blueberries, herbs, a hint of blood orange and a now excellently integrated wood. On the palate, the wine shows a wonderful freshness and cool, dark, lively fruit with an acidity so typical of the grape variety. This is complemented by a compact, fine-grained tannin that remains present until the long finish.
