Penfolds Bin 389 Cabernet Shiraz 2023

The 2023 BIN 389 is an absolutely thrilling, even outstanding wine. Once referred to as the "little Grange?, it has always been Max Schubert's own creation; the first edition dates back to the 1960 vintage. We consider it the best value wine in the collection. The current cuvée is slightly Cabernet-dominated (51% Cabernet, 49% Shiraz) from McLaren Vale, Padthaway and the Barossa Valley and is aged for one year in American oak, a third of which is new. In the glass, it is opaque purple-red, elegant, full-bodied and exciting with aromas of plum, aniseed, tobacco leaf, dark chocolate, espresso, blackberry and a hint of blueberry. Seamless structure, lively energy, fine acidity and supple tannins characterise the long finish.
