Buy wines from Gut Hermannsberg
The eagle on the label refers to the historical origins of today's Hermannberg estate. It was founded in 1902 as a royal Prussian domain with the quasi "state" mandate to produce world-class white wines. 96 years later, it was privatised by the state of Rhineland-Palatinate.
Since 2009, the Reidel family has owned the estate in Niederhausen an der Nahe, which is one of the founding members of the VDP.
The seven vineyard sites of the winery cover 30 hectares and are all classified as Große Lage. They are so different that the winegrowers themselves refer to them as "seven terroirs", each of which has its own flavour profile and makes the wines particularly varied. Typical of the Nahe: the stony, mostly volcanic soils, which produce Rieslings with character, flavour and minerality.
The Hermannsberg estate - like more and more wineries - is committed to the idea of sustainable cultivation. This includes the use of self-produced compost or the use of biotechnical plant protection methods, e.g. against insect infestation.
