House of Smith Winery

"100% made by hand. 100% Washington wine."

Charles Smith

House of Smith is the largest independent winery in Washington State. Behind the success story is "rock star winemaker" Charles Smith, a former band manager active in Denmark and Seattle.

His interest in wine, which had been growing steadily since he was a waiter at the age of 19, initially led to the opening of a wine bar. But that wasn't enough. Just as well.

in 1999, he planted his first vines in Walla Walla, Washington. the first vintage was available in 2001: 330 cases of Syrah, marketed under the "K" label. Over the next 20 years, Smith created numerous iconic brands with eye-catching labels and "loud" names such as House Wine, Kung Fu Girl Riesling, Boom Boom Syrah, Velvet Devil Merlot and Royal City Syrah. This period was accompanied by multiple awards.

K" became K Vinters, one of the central brands. It stands for small batches of Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache, Tempranillo and Sangiovese, which are elaborately produced as single-vineyard wines or single-vineyard cuvées, hand-picked, spontaneously fermented and gently basket-pressed.
