Penfolds St. Henri Magnum 2018
The 2018 Penfolds "St. Henri" is part of a long line of outstanding vintages, but the 2018 is once again considered to be particularly successful. We have already experienced this with the "Grange" and it is the same with the "St. Henri". They are not distinguished by the quality of the fruit or the combination of Shiraz with a little Cabernet Sauvignon. It is the ageing process that makes these wines so different. While the "Grange" is aged for almost two years in 100% new American tonneaux, the "St. Henri" is aged for one year in large wooden barrels that are more than 50 years old. This makes it an elegant, balanced and fine wine right from the start, which is complex, dense and concentrated at the same time. James Halliday and Robert Parker both awarded it 97 points.
