Family winery Tement Grassnitzberg Riff 2020
Sauvignon Blanc that could hardly be more typical of the variety: Gooseberry, cassis, grapefruit, plus the green tones typical of Grassnitzberg (nettle, paprika) and some elderflower. The soil, consisting of weathered, 20-million-year-old coral, provides minerality, while the rather cool microclimate of the site by Styrian standards ensures a fresh, acidic grip. A slight phenolic character lends the wine a rather straightforward seriousness, but its fruity vivacity prevents it from appearing too unadorned or even austere.
