Mount Mary Vineyard
The Yarra Valley, in southeast Australia, east of Melbourne. In the 1850s, Swiss settlers recognised the climatic parallels to Burgundy and Bordeaux and planted the first vines. The Mount Mary winery has been here since 1972.
Mount Mary's "Triolet" is in the great tradition of the white Bordeaux from Graves and Pessac Leognan. The cuvée always consists of the three grape varieties (hence Triolet) Sauvignon Blanc, Sémillon and Muscadelle. In the cool 2020 vintage, the blend ratio is 62 to 28 and 10 %. Matured for eleven months in French barriques, this is an elegant, deep and rich blend reminiscent of apple, pear and the fruit and zest of lemons, as well as quince, a little lanolin, wax and patisserie. The wine has outstanding potential.
