The neighbouring appellation of St.-Émilion, Castillon - Côtes de Bordeaux - has always offered a very interesting (and affordable) alternative to its famous neighbour. Among others, Stephan Graf Neipperg, who also owns the two Premier Cru vineyards Château Canon La Gaffeliere and Château La Mondotte, recognised this. The limestone soils and the somewhat cooler climate here produce a wine year after year that never ceases to amaze!
