Domaine Ramonet Chassagne Montrachet 2022
The most important village wine in Ramonet's portfolio is undoubtedly the "Chassagne-Montrachet'. This is where the domaine is based – and it is here alone that it cultivates seven 1er Cru vineyards. The soils are chalky and stony, and at times also sandy or marly. The 2022 vintage is characterised by considerable warmth – it was the second-warmest year in Burgundy since 1947. Consequently, the wines have turned out ripe and full-bodied. A spell of cooling rain in June prevented the wines from becoming too broad or overripe. The aromas are characterised by citrus notes and green apple – when first opened, a hint of rubber lingers in the glass. As is (almost) always the case with Ramonet, the acidity is present but not jarring. Underlying it all is the deep, chalky-limestone minerality typical of Chassagne.
