"But my heart is in Calon."

55 hectares behind a thick stone wall, in the very north of the Médoc - this is how the story of Château Calon Ségur begins.
An exceptional terroir of clayey gravel that produces three wines: Château Calon Ségur, Le Marquis de Calon Ségur, named after the famous 18th century owner, and C de Calon Ségur.
Modern facilities that allow the quality of the wines to be refined a little more each year.
And then there is the heart that symbolises the Marquis de Ségur's love for this legendary vineyard in Saint-Estèphe, which has adorned the labels for many years and makes the hearts of Calon lovers beat faster.
The story goes like this:
In the 18th century, Calon Ségur belonged to Nicolas-Alexandre de Ségur, the legendary "Prince des Vignes". He also owned vineyards such as Château Lafite, Latour and Mouton, three of today's 1er Cru! Nevertheless, he is said to have said of Calon Ségur: "Je fais du vin à Lafite et à Latour, mais mon cœur est à Calon." ("I make wine in Lafite and Latour, but my heart belongs to Calon.") This confession was later taken literally. The heart became the symbol of the winery and still adorns the label today.
