If there is a queen at Penfolds alongside the king "Grange", then it is the "Yattarna", which bears the barrel number "BIN 144". This Chardonnay comes 73% from Tasmania and 27% from the Adelaide Hills. The "Yattarna" is a highly complex and balanced wine that is fine and intense, dense and elegant. It is characterised by fine flint, citric notes and bright ripe pome and stone fruit. The sheer power is combined with a vibrant minerality and a creamy texture on the palate. ROBERT PARKER awarded it 96 points, JAMES SUCKLING 96 and JAMES HALLIDAY 97 points. The 2014 is the 20th vintage of this timeless Chardonnay.
