Winemaker Charles Smith also favours single-varietal wines at his winery in the Walla Walla Valley in Washington, which clearly reflect the typicality of the grape variety, as is the case here with his Syrah. The intense flavours of black fruits and spices are supported by a great deal of finesse and florality and lead to a fantastic harmony. Silky tannins and a deep complexity make the 2017 a great experience, which will surprise some people considering the surprisingly favourable price and the very good ratings!

House of Smith is the largest independent winery in Washington State. Behind the success story is "rock star winemaker" Charles Smiths, a former band manager active in Denmark and Seattle. His interest in wine, which had been steadily burgeoning since he was 19, initially led to the opening of a wine bar. But that was not enough. Good thing.
