At the time, critics categorised this vintage as rather difficult. However, despite all predictions, it developed splendidly. Anyone who opens a bottle of Lafite Rothschild 2006 today will be delighted. In contrast to its predecessor 2005, everything here is somewhat finer. The tannins are beautifully ripe, but not so taut and the intense flavours of dark berries and precious woods are not as opulent, but more sensual. Everything is in perfect balance and the wine still has decades ahead of it!

There are supposed to be people who have no interest whatsoever in wine. And even they "of course" know the name "Lafite-Rothschild" and know that it is one of the most famous wineries of all. Some may also have picked up that a bottle from the estate of Thomas Jefferson fetched a price of 160,000 dollars at an auction in 1985.
