At a special dinner with the Château, we had the great honour of enjoying the two exceptional vintages 1995 and 2003. 1995 was a great challenge. Like 1988, it took a long time for the tannins and acidity to find their balance. Now it is ready. The wine is in a perfect drinking window. Classic Pauillac flavours and the beguiling violet notes for which Lafite is so famous make this wine an experience.

There are supposed to be people who have no interest whatsoever in wine. And even they "of course" know the name "Lafite-Rothschild" and know that it is one of the most famous wineries of all. Some may also have picked up that a bottle from the estate of Thomas Jefferson fetched a price of 160,000 dollars at an auction in 1985.
