Winery Fontanafredda Alta Langa Contessa Rosa Brut Rosé 2019

This Piedmontese Metodo Classico is made from 80% Pinot Noir and 20% Chardonnay. It is dedicated to Contessa Rosa Vercellana, also known as Bela Rusin, who later became the wife of Vittorio Emanuele II, the first king of a united Italy. He had once purchased Fontanafredda as a gift for the woman he loved dearly. To commemorate this great love, this rosé is produced today; it boasts an elegant, onion-skin-colored hue and a delicate aroma of orange blossoms and pomegranate. It has enough body to easily pair with a main course such as poultry in morel cream sauce, yet is also complex enough to stand on its own as an aperitif. Above all, however, it is a sparkling tribute to a great love.
