Fontanafredda Winery
Deep in the Langhe, where the Nebbiolo for the best Barolo grows, lies the Fontanafredda wine estate. The land was purchased in 1858 by none other than King Vittorio Emanuele II for the wife of his heart, Rosa Vercelana.
Winery Fontanafredda Alta Langa Blanc de Blanc 2021
Alta Langa is one of Italy's rising regions for sparkling wines. Here, Chardonnay is grown at over 600 meters in Castino on soils of white clay interspersed with calcareous sands. Grapes are harvested in early September, fermentation lasts about a month, followed by one year's maturation before the second fermentation in bottle. Released after 36 months, the "Blanc de Blancs? recalls dried fruits, bread crust, and honey, with a fresh, fragrant, and creamy taste.
